How do you put topspin or backspin in a corkscrew serve? How do you return corkscrew, corkscrew with topspin and corkscrew with backspin serves?

Hi Mars,

To put topspin on the corkscrew serve you tilt you bat slightly forward with the end closest to the net facing down.  Backspin is the reverse, where you face the end of the bat further away from the net down.

To return these you need to play them as you would a sidespin topspin serve.  Aim to the right and down a little. As it doesn't have much forward momentum yuou may need to hit it a little more forward.

With the sidespin backspin you need to hit it to the side and up a little.

We will have to make a video lesson on this at some stage. As you can see it is difficult to explain with words.
