Serving

Hey PingSkills, I am a huge fan of you guys and you help me so much but there is one thing I want to learn. And that is how to do a side spin serve. I have watched many tutorials but they don’t really go into depth about it. And when I try to practice it usually drops on my side, overshoots, or I don’t even hit it. And when it does get through there is usually little to no spin on it I don’t know if my technique is wrong or if my bat angle is wrong. I hope you read this and can direct me to one of your videos, etc.

Regards,

Shaurya

Hi Shaurya,

The main thing is the contact that you make.

If you look at the tutorial on Learning to Spin it will show you to get the ball to curve.  That is generating sidespin.  If you then translate that to the contact you are making on the ball when you ae doing the sidespin serve you will start to get the serve right.
