Hi Pingskills!

There is always very difficult for me to make a topspin against fast punch or counterhit. My move is to topspin but usually the stroke is without any spin and it's float. I watched your lesson about topspin against block but in a fast rally you rather have to play it against a bit faster balls than a block so please give me some advice.

Same situation is when I gets e.g. a fast topspin and when I want to play drive topspin it is also rather a float ball and it's not as powerfull as it should be. Please help!

Hi Michael,

It sounds like you are not getting enough of a brushing contact on the ball.  Especially when the ball is fast it feels like it has more backspin on the ball. Therefore you need to brush the ball to lift it or generate more topspin on the ball to get it over the net.  YOu don't need a big action just a short action that has a really thin contact on the ball.

To develop more power against a topspin ball, you will need to get a good contact on the ball.  This time you may be able to have a flatter contact because the topspin is already on the ball and you don't need to lift it.  For his stroke you can go forward with your action but still maintain a topspin contact to get the ball to dip quickly onto the other side.  The increase the speed of the stroke to get more power.  Get your bat to move through the stroke fast.
