Hi PingSkills, I got this problem again that is Topspin off Backspin. I don't know why when I topspin it, the ball always go out. It's not high but it always out a little off the table (around 1 inch - 5 inch)

I don't know what happen to me, I think because I brush it too hard so I tried to brush it with less power but the ball go off to the net.  Can you tell me what really happened ? Because of this I'm afraid of make a topspin off backspin stroke and just try to push it when it makes the opponent easy to attack.

Please help me. Thank you very much

Hi Frendy,

One of the keys to a good stroke is the amount of topspin on the ball.  As soon as you get tentative you will stop spinning the ball as much so the ball will often go long.  Make sure you are spinning the ball on contact even if you miss sometimes.

Forehand Counterhit

The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:

  1. Your feet position
  2. Your start position
  3. Your finish position

If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
