Hi Alois

I just watched this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psqmHQYKDYs&feature=related

I must say I'm really surprised by his serves. What makes his serve so fast and spinney?

I don't think only the wrist movement is enough to do a very good quality serve.

Any idea?

Hi Ittipat,

Schlager is serving with a lot of variation and deception.  He has a very similar movement for a lot of serves so it is hard to tell until the last moment what type of serve is coming.  However the main contact and spin uses a lot of wrist to generate the spin.

The Float Serve

The float or no spin serve is an effective tool to have in your bag of serves. It adds good variation to your serves and can often set you up with an easy 3rd ball opportunity.
