Equipment
Hi Alois/Jeff,
is it the wood or the rubber that makes a good bat to choose?. I think it's a combination of both. so, when I choose my own bat as an average player what to look for.
I have another question. what is meant by speed of bats?. Is it the speed of the ball when it comes out of the bat, or it is the ease of handling the bat?.
Thanks.
Hossam
Hi Hossam,
The most important thing by far is the rubber. That is why rubber needs to be approved and not blades.
The speed of a bat is how fast the ball comes out. The faster the bat the less control you have.

yes I got you. So, what is the definition of less control?.
sorry for asking such basic questions, I just need to make sure that I understand these concepts correctly.
Thanks.

Less control means that it is harder to put the ball where you want it because the ball is not staying on your racket for very long. For example, if you are thrown a ball and you catch it you will have a lot better chance of throwing it where you want to than if the ball comes in and bounces off your hand quickly.

thanks a lot for your elaboration. I think as an average player, a bat with control level more than speed would be more convenient.
So, what about professional players?. do they depend on speed more than control?. I know this depends on the player's style, I am talking about the most common choice.
Thanks for the help.
