it's easy when i train but it's difficult in a real game
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 12 years ago
When you train work on hitting the ball from anywhere and start to increase the speed a little each time so that eventually you will be at game pace and still getting a lot of balls on the table.

Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 11 years ago
We have a Serving Secrets lesson that will help you with all sorts of serves and spin.
Can you tell me when is safe and when is unsafe to hit a fast stroke
Chris Voy Posted 11 years ago
Wow cool I have just found a nice thing
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 11 years ago
Hi Chris,
If the ball is high, say around shoulder height then you can play the ball faster. Use the topspin stroke to do this as it will add safety to the stroke.
Drew Mainprize Posted 10 years ago
Hey Alois,
I have a table that can have one side folded up for training alone.
Will this work for a foldup table?
And can you please add any good effective ways to train on a foldup table?
Just wanted to say thanks in advance!
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 10 years ago
Hi Drew,
We do have a lesson on Practicing Alone which will give you some ideas.

hi coach !!
l want to know what are different teaching people play table tennis and like to play table tennis but not sure can teaching people ??
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 9 years ago
Hi Peter,
I am not exactly sure of your question, but if I read it right, good players don't necessarily make good teachers and weaker players can be very good teachers.
peter wong Posted 9 years ago
Thanks you coach for asking my question.
Yes,you got my meaning, you are absoluty get my point!
But l do not understand why weaker players can be very good teachers???
peter wong Posted 9 years ago
Sorry coach,My English are not well, can not express my idea to you in clearly.
Harlan Abraham Posted 9 years ago
Peter, someone who is a really good player could play well sometimes even without thinking about it. Someone who may not be a strong player might be able to teach it better. A weaker player is able to analyze what is happening better than a good player. A strong player just plays discovers what he does well and what other players don't do particularly well.
In other sports star athletes often don't make good coaches. They could play the game, but, are not able to give their unique skill to others. Plus a star player often does not study the game the way a non elite player would.
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 9 years ago
Hi Peter,
I agree with Harlan. Coaching is a lot to do with communication of ideas and understanding what is happening.
peter wong Posted 9 years ago

Harlan Abraham Posted 8 years ago
This video is very good. Where I play now I have a lot of players who really don't play that come to me and ask if I could play table tennis with them. The first thing I try to show them is hitting the ball on the table. This guy who is just starting to play, about 12 years old, asked me what the most important thing was in table tennis. I informed him it was to get the ball back on the table. He had a lot of pride when he was able to do it ten consecutive times.
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 8 years ago
Brilliant. Thanks Harlan.
Zaki Roshnaiwala Posted 8 years ago

u told us to keep your bat flat at 90 degree angle and hit the boll flat but in the whole video you kept your bat slightly tilted inside.why?
so we are supposed to keep our bat tilted or flat?
Because i tried to play with my bat little tilted but i was not able to make a correct hit.abd qith flat surface the ball bounces too high after getting deflected from bat.
pease help me how to make a proper stroke in tt.
thank you.
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 8 years ago
The angle of your bat depends on the speed and spin on the ball. The more speed or topspin the more you can tilt your bat forward. At the basic level keep your bat very flat.

Hi Alois,
When I forehand smash I have a tendency to hit the ball over the table. Do you have any tips? I also would like to thank you for the very helpful videos.
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 6 years ago
Hi Louis,
Thanks for the kind words. Try hitting the ball when it is higher, around shoulder or head height. Also put a little topspin on the ball to increase the reliability.
Dear Alois: when I work with a partner sometimes he use to put some sesping efect on his stroke but he didn’t notice it. That make me fail the direction I’m trying to put the ball. How can I handle? Because sometimes he stroke it that way and sometimes not and I’m not good enough to catch it on time. Thanks a lot in advance.
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 5 years ago
Hi Gabriel,
It is good you have that opportunity to learn from his shots. The main thing is to to adjust the angle of your bat according to the spin on the ball. If the ball is going to the right, angle your bat to the left and vice versa. This is a learning process that can take time. You will make mistakes along the way but it is important to watch where the ball is going off your bat and learn from the process.
